Is It Spring Yet?

I've been hearing a Robin sing and the Redwing blackbirds.....

to me that's a sure sign that Spring is springing forth.

What a relief!

Anybody else tired of Winter yet?

Here are a few winter pictures of some of the things that we did to speed the winter  blues away........

I had to take a trip west to see my babies....

but first this giant snow plow

 had to clean off the runway at the airport.

There's another attraction in Arizona....

Went on some walks with Hannah and the boys....

I got to play in a wedding with Hannah.....

it was so nice to play music with her again.

The cranes were coming in by the hundreds...or thousands..or millions......it sure was a lot of them!

Back at Eagles Nest.......

we went hiking and on the road to the trails 

we spotted an eagle.

He was only a couple of miles from our Eagles Nest.

Trying to make it safely through the snow storms.....

Remembering warmer days with butterflies and birds....

Fleece to Shawl at the Farm Show

They only had three hours to turn sheep fleece into a beautiful shawl that was 78 inches long and 24 inches wide.
Can they do it?

The teams display table.

The team:

2 spinners, 1 plyer, 1 carder, and the weaver (Faith)

The fleece....

This was daddy's oil can that came with his schwinn bicycle many years ago.  Still squirtin' out the oil.....

Meanwhile, I was looking around at the Alpaca store
where you could buy anything from alpaca yarn to socks.

When I came back they were still hard at work.

They finished with a half an hour to spare!

The beautiful shawl....
it was a denim pattern.  Each team had different themes.
Faith's team did a denim theme.

Out of six teams Faith's team won second place!!
Yay!!

That evening the shawls were auctioned off to the highest bidder.

Their shawl sold for $475!

Of course, it's a fundraiser for the 4-h.

Meanwhile back in the stalls......

the sheep just chewing their cud....

After the youth finished the fleece to shawl
the adults did the SHEEP to shawl.
They had two and a half hours to shear a sheep 
and then turn that fleece
into a shawl.

They also had different themes and were auctioned off as fundraisers for different causes.

And as long as he is a sheep, he will bear wool, because that’s his nature. And so is it with the Christian church. We were never asked to manufacture fruits. We were asked to bear fruit."
