Towers and Trucks

We took a hike on Labor Day and discovered an old stone tower.  People aren't quite sure what it was used for but some say it was used to mine coal from the mountain.  This is located in Stony Valley.  There is lots of history here and if you would like to go to the website for more info click HERE. It was 2.5 miles up the mountain.  We had to follow the red blazed trees to know where the trail was.  The creek at the bottom had so much moss!  I've never seen so much thick moss in one place.  The pictures can't really show how much there were but it was pretty amazing.

Faith and I take turns riding along in the feed truck with Daddy on Saturdays.  We both took pictures and thought you might like to ride along with us.

Finally made it to the stone tower!
Oh, by the way, Karl met up with a couple of rattlesnakes...ahem...so we quickly left and headed back down the mountain!

Faith is ready to take a load out to a farm!

Faith took this picture of daddy, :o)

When I went our first stop was at an Amish farm.

Then we went to a pig and sheep farm.

Making sure it's all out of the truck.

At the next farm, the wife had a business of selling fresh cut flowers.  There were flowers everywhere.  It was beautiful!

Ever hear the expression "eatin' like a pig?"

Middle of the month memories

Here are a few pictures of this week's happenings in August. Open house at the feed mill, hangin in the hammocks, in the trees, hikin', and tailgating.  Enjoy!

Look who was hiding in the trees one night. Patty the Possum.

The young people came over Sunday and 'hung out'.

Ok, what's going on here?

Now you got him, what are you going to do with him?

Lincoln has a suggestion.....

Let Queenie take care of him!

aww

Always ready to explore new places!

Karl brought home free beets from Aunt Carol and Uncle Ron.
Thank you!

Mr. Beet is doing a little 'tailgating'.  hehe

Peach Party

It's hard to believe that it is August already, but here it is!  Two things come to mind when the calendar turns the page to August: Peach Pickin' and School.
My Mom and Dad decided to come up for our annual Peach Pickin' Party!  We had a great time together and made lots of good memories.  Now that the party is over, it's time to start school.

Some singin'

Some snoozin'

We even had a potato party!

We took a walk down to the fire department to get a pop.

A couple of hours later there was an accident down the road and the Life Lion helicopter landed at the fire hall to pick up an injured person.

Finishing up the last of the chicken stew out of the ol' black kettle!

Grandpa couldn't let Karl out do him, so he finished up the last of the peaches in the pot! Yum!

Thanks for coming Mom and Dad! We really enjoyed your visit!

"A little tree no more than one half inch high, did you know every peach that'll ever be in that tree is in it then? If it isn't, where does it come from? It's planted in the ground, and it has to grow, and it has to drink. And it drinks from the water of the earth, and in there brings in the vitamins and so forth, bringing it in from the earth as it drinks. And it drinks over its allotted portion. So the more it drinks, the farther it pushes out. It pushes out limbs, then it pushes out leaves, then it pushes out blossoms, then it pushes out peaches.
Well, that's the way a Christian is. When we are planted in Christ Jesus, the inexhaustible Fountain of Life, everything we have need of is in us then. We just keep drinking and pushing out, drinking and pushing out. If we have need of more of God, just keep drinking and pushing out.
If we need healing, just drink and push out."
